Selva Viva Butterfly Garden

Educational

Santiago, Chile

2013

“When I was asked to do this project, I thought it was very challenging. To be able to create an ecosystem for jungle animals and butterflies in the middle of the city surrounded by cement. The hardest part was that the building was already built and not designed for this purpose. On two floors, I had to get to include, tropical trees, palms trees, lush plants of giant leaves, orchids, moving water… drains.
Color, texture, perspective, hiding places for animals, vine branches for birds.
I looked for tropical plants in nurseries in Arica and in many other places, I studied a lot… about the life of butterflies and their host plants species and plants for feed. The importance of color, humidity, air, light and temperature…
To finally achieve this beautiful unique project in Chile.”
